Our beef
Slow-grown. Dry-aged. Hand-cut.
Every aspect of how we raise and finish our cattle is chosen to deliver the deepest flavour and best texture.

Native breeds
We raise Aberdeen Angus or Hereford x dairy cow cattle — chosen for flavour. The native Angus or Hereford builds the frame and the Dairy brings in the marbling that makes our meat tasty and buttery in flavour. Meat that tastes like it used to. We also raise rare breed Albion Cattle, the beef from these is occasionally available and we list it separately.
Provenance
Hand-picked as calves from trusted local farms, then raised and finished on our pastures with care.
Hung & aged
Dry aged on the bone for a minimum of 21 days, then butchered and frozen to ensure the flavour is locked in.

Rare breed
Rare Breed Albion Cattle
As well as the main herd, we have also invested in a few head of rare breed cattle as a small suckler herd. We have 15 acres of Site of Special Scientific Interest land on our farm, and we only graze this with rare breed cows.
The Albion is a striking blue-roan dairy-type breed originally developed in Derbyshire in the early 1900s by crossing Shorthorn and Welsh Black cattle. The breed was nearly wiped out by the 1960s foot and mouth outbreak and was considered extinct for decades — today there are only a handful left in the country, making them rarer than the Giant Panda.
We occasionally have Albion beef for sale — it's very tasty and well worth trying if you spot it on the website. If you sign up to our mailing list you'll be the first to hear when Albion beef is available.
Emma was interviewed by the BBC about our Albion cattle (James was out working when they came to do the interview). You can listen to the BBC interview here — BBC Local Radio, Farmwatch Somerset: "Cows thought to be extinct living in Somerset".
